Elizabeth Taylor 1932 – 2011

Richard Burton had plenty of self-deprecating things to say about the trade of an actor.

 

Of actresses, however, he could – on occasion – be more forgiving.

 

He combined the two viewpoints in one of his most famous quotes:

 

“An actor is something less than a man,” he once said. “But an actress is so much more than a woman.”

 

He could only have had one actress in mind.
