Sir Michael Caine’s Best (Non-Oscar-Winning) Performance

All this week we’ll be celebrating Sir Michael Caine’s birthday on The Hornet. A fine actor and a stylish fellow, many happy returns Sir Michael.

The Hornet Salutes Sir Michael Caine’s Best Non-Oscar Winning Moment: Opposite Laurence Olivier in Sleuth (1972). Both were nominated for Best Actor (losing to Brando’s Don Corleone) for the labyrinthine two-handed thriller. Caine matches Olivier blow-for-blow and both men can consider themselves unlucky to have come up against The Godfather.
