This year’s Royal Ascot poster (above) is the work of artist David Mach. The Daily Telegraph published an illuminating piece on art at Ascot:
In advance of Royal Ascot new sculptures are invited into the grounds: one – called The Icon – was made from the nose cone of Concorde; this year an artist will work on a clay maquette while people watch. If the works are sold, Ascot will take a small commission, but it is the chance to exhibit art rather than the money that is the point, says [Charles] Barnett [Ascot Chief Exec.].
